Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport (PUJ) Announces Open House for New Terminal Building and FBO - April 15th, 2010
Blake Swafford, Airport Director for the Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport, has announced that PUJ will be hosting its first Open House on Saturday, May 1st, 2010, from 10am to 3pm. This free event will be open to the public, with various static aircraft displays available for viewing throughout the day at the airport. Other events are being planned for the afternoon, and they will be posted as updates become available on the airport’s website, www.pauldingairport.com.
Mr. Swafford commented, “We hope to show the businesses and citizens of Paulding County and metro Atlanta that this ultra-modern facility is unlike others in the region.” The PUJ Airport Authority has worked closely with professional pilots and aviation related firms throughout the design stages of the new facility, ensuring that the building’s layout, fiber to the premises (FTTP) and Fixed Base Operator (FBO) services will attract new industry and opportunities for the Airport and the surrounding Technology Park, which is currently under development.
The centerpiece of the Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport is its 23,000 square foot, state-of the-art terminal building and FBO. Located adjacent to the airport’s extensive main ramp area, the FBO and its fueling facilities are capable of handling several large aircraft simultaneously. The FBO and terminal building will feature all of the amenities that any professional pilot has come to expect, including wireless internet and flight planning stations, meeting areas, pilot rest areas. The large ramp area offers ample parking for both vehicles and aircraft.
Avgas is currently being sold at the airport for $4.25 per gallon and Jet-A sells for $3.50 per gallon.

Airport Update - September 9th 2009
The Paulding County Regional Airport opened to aircraft operations in November 2008. This initial opening allowed aircraft to land in good and bad weather conditions, utilizing the Instrument Landing System (ILS) while receiving current airport weather updates on the Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) frequency. While the opening of the airport was a major accomplishment, it only represented an initial step in the construction of a world-class general aviation airport. Additional projects are ongoing and new infrastructure and facilities are beginning to take shape. Possibly, the most notable development is the construction of the new Aviation Terminal and Economic Development Center. This 23,000 square foot facility will house the future Fixed Base Operator (FBO), airport management offices, economic development offices, flex lease space, and a restaurant. This impressive, two-story building will establish a high standard for the airport that will be unmatched in the Atlanta region. The Terminal and Economic Development Center is scheduled to be complete in April 2010, well in advance of the National Business Aviation Association’s (NBAA) annual international conference. The NBAA 2010 conference will be held in Atlanta and will provide a tremendous opportunity to introduce our new airport and state of the art facilities to the world.
Construction also began last month on the airport’s self-serve aviation fuel farm that will provide Avgas and Jet-A fuel at the airport. This fuel farm will allow transient and locally based aircraft to refuel as needed at the self-serve pumps, 24 hours a day. The fuel farm’s electronic card reader will accept all major credit cards and will provide operators maximum convenience and flexibility for their aircraft operating in and out the metro Atlanta region.
Lastly, the Paulding County Airport Authority has signed its first ground lease for hangars to be constructed at the airport. The ground lease will allow for a single building, containing 13 individual hangars and a 60-foot by 70-foot box hangar, on the end of the building. This hangar facility will incorporate the same high aesthetic standards as the Aviation Terminal and Economic Development Center. In meeting the airports stringent covenants, this hangar will set the standard for all hangars constructed on the airport in the future.
With these facilities under way and many additional facilities in the planning stage, the Paulding County Regional Airport is well-positioned to be the premier airport of choice for pilots, corporate flight departments and businesses operating in and out of the rapidly expanding northwest Atlanta region.
